Sleeping Rough Project

As we read in the press the homeless problem in Australia is ever increasing, which means that more and more people are missing out on the luxuries and also necessities of life.
As a Club we recognised that the homeless had access to clothing, blankets, food and the like, but it is those other little things we take for granted that make life so much more pleasurable. It was then in 2013 that the concept of the personal care pack began.
The feedback we have received from the recipients has been very positive so we are committed to see that the project continues. Seven years later we have distributed over 10,3000 packs to clients via various agencies.
The number of agencies distributing the packs on our behalf is increasing. They have helped us understand that the homeless, who receive the packs may live on the beach, under the jetty, in the park, in their cars and there is a large number of couch surfers, sleeping wherever a bed is available.
We are currently working with Marion Life, Salvation Army Marion, Hutt St Centre, St Andrews by the Sea and other Lions Clubs.
If you are able to assist with donations of motel sized product please contact Sharyn:

Become an Edwardstown Lion

Edwardstown is situated about 20 minutes south of the Adelaide CBD, half way between the City and the Sea, set largely in an area of mixed residential and light industrial. The Edwardstown Lions Club was first started by a group of people having their homes and busineses in the area. Our focus is on the young and disadvantaged person in our area. The many primary schools and secondary schools in the nearby suburbs of Marion, Ascot Park, Clovelly Park and Parkholme are assisted by many of our varied projects.

We are just ordinary people doing extraordinary things - supporting people with  disabilities, disadvantaged persons and youth, community greening and fundraising for worthwhile causes.

If you want to be a part of an active club assisting the local and wider community, join the Lions Club of Edwardstown

Join our club and you will be in a group of friends who have fun while helping the local community.

Lions Club members are men and women who strive to make a difference in their local community as well as in communities worldwide.
